Standard Reports and Custom Reports

Safari includes a list of pre-built reports that we call "standard" reports.  For more details, see Reports - Standard Reports & Fields. You can also save custom reports as Personal (visible only to you). To learn more about creating your own custom report, see Reports - Create Custom Reports.
Alert
Currently, you can save custom reports for yourself only.  You cannot save custom reports for other users.  This feature is on Safari's roadmap to add.  Please contact your account manager if this feature is important to you.

Reports Lists

The Reports List page shows all reports - both Safari's standard reports and custom reports.  Custom reports appear first (alphabetically), followed by standard reports (alphabetically). The reports list is visible to all Safari users except those with Uploader permissions.

Report Filters

All reports provide a filter panel before a report runs. Filters let you control the scope of data returned - keeping results relevant and report performance predictable. There are three filter types: Date, Matter Type and Row Limit.

Info
When you save a custom report, all filter settings are saved. The next time you open the report, your saved filters will be pre-populated in the filter panel.

Row Limit

The Row Limit sets the maximum number of rows a report will return; it is always required and must be a whole number between 1 - 9,999. If your report results reach the row limit, Safari will display an alert letting you know the results may be incomplete. To get more results, increase the row limit or narrow your filters. For very large data sets, consider using an Export instead (see below).

Date Filter

The Date Filter restricts results to records that fall within a specified date range, based on a single date field. You must select both a date field and a date range before running a report. The date fields available depend on the report's data source.

Range Option
What It Returns
Current Month
Returns records from the first day of the current month through the date the report is run.
Current Quarter
Returns records from the first day of the current calendar quarter year through the date the report is run.
Current Year
Returns records from January 1 of the current year through the date the report is run (default for all reports).
Last Month
Returns records for the full prior calendar month.
Last Quarter
Returns records for the full prior calendar quarter.
Last Year
Returns records for the full prior calendar year.
Customer
User-specified start and end date (date range cannot exceed two years).

Matter Type / Subtype Filter

The Matter Type / Subtype filter restricts report results to specific matter types and subtypes. You can select one or more Matter Types, and where applicable, one or m ore Subtypes within those types. Permissions are still always enforced, regardless of how the filter is configured - users will only see records they are authorized to view.

Running a Report

When you open any report, the filter panel is displayed first. To generate results:
  1. Review the current filter values - adjust the date, matter type or row limit as needed.
  2. Select Run Report to execute the report with the filters shown.

Any filter changes you make at the time you run the report are temporary and do not affect saved report configurations. if you want to save updated filter values, you must save the report after making your changes.

Download Reports

After generating a report, Safari provides several download options: Excel, CSV, Image, PDF and HTML. Select the Export button in the upper left corner above the report table and select your preferred format.

Exports

Use an export if you're pulling data into a third-party reporting engine or system. Exports are generally faster than loading a Safari report. For detailed information about standard reports, see Reports - Export CSV Data
