AI Setup

IdeaVIDEO TUTORIAL: (2 MINS) - AI Compliance
The AI Setup page controls how Safari uses artificial intelligence (AI) to identify, classify, and extract data from served documents. The AI Setup page allows your company to determine whether AI populates matter fields and / or classifies incoming documents during intake, and it sets the level of human in the loop review that is required.

Alert
All AI features are disabled by default. Your company must turn on AI features in the AI Setup page before they take effect, only Owners can edit this page and all changes are captured in audit history.

The AI Setup page includes two configurations:
  1. Data Extraction. Controls whether AI extracts data from documents and populates matter fields
  2. Document Identification & Classification. Controls whether AI identifies document boundaries and classifies served documents during intake (requires Served Document Managerâ„¢).
To access AI Setup, go to System Setup and select AI Setup under the Intake section.

Document Identification and Classification

This is the first field on the AI Setup page. If your company has not subscribed to Served Document Manager (SDM), this field will display Served Document Manager not enabled. To learn more about SDM and it's AI capabilities please see SDM - AI Document Identification.

Data Extraction

This field sits below Document Identification & Classification. Enable this when you want AI to read served documents and fill in matter fields for you, rather than keying that data in manually. Choose one of the following:
  1. No (default). AI data extraction is disabled.
  2. Yes. AI data extraction is enabled, additional configurations required.
If AI Data Extraction is enabled the Type/Subtype as well as human review requirements must be completed.

Type/Subtype Configuration

Once AI is enabled, select the Types and Subtypes for which AI Data Extraction applies, use the toggle to pick from the below:
  1. All. AI Data Extraction applies to every Type and Subtype
  2. Selected. AI Data Extraction applies only to the Types and Subtypes you select.
For each Subtype you enable, complete the AI Classification Description field in Subtype Setup, the AI Classification description has a 200-character limit - include key words, document types or patterns that set a Subtype apart from others.

AI Data Extraction Review

When AI populates a field, an indicator marks it. This setting controls how users must handle that indicator before they change a matter's status, choose the level of review that fits your company's risk tolerance:
  1. Required - Must clear before any status change (Default). Review the fields AI populated and clear the AI indicator before changing the matter status.
  2. Optional - One-Click Review Acknowledgment Available. Acknowledge the populated fields with a single click, not required before a status change.
  3. Optional - Visible Indicator, No Option to Clear. See the AI Indicator, but there is no option to clear it and no review is required.
  4. N/A - No AI Extraction Indicator. No AI indicator is shown, no review is required.
You can override this default for individual Subtypes, to do so:
  1. Go to Subtype Setup and open the Subtype
  2. Locate the AI Data Extraction Review field
  3. Toggle from Use Default to Override
  4. Select the applicable review mode for that Subtype
