Served Document Manager™ - External Subtypes

External Subtypes let system admins define Subtypes for documents that route somewhere other than Safari's fulfillment systems — most commonly Non-Served Documents (NSDs). An NSD is any document that doesn't qualify as a Served Document, such as junk mail, customer complaints, or anything else that doesn't require service.

Once created, External Subtypes show up in the Reclassify dropdown (see SDM - Document Viewer Actions) alongside the standard Safari Subtypes. That way, a reviewer can classify these outside documents so they can be routed and reported on automatically.

Info
NSDs are currently the only External Subtype available, more External Subtypes will be added as new routing options become available.

Accessing SDM External Subtypes

On the System Setup page, under Intake, select SDM External Subtypes. This link only appears if your company is subscribed to SDM. It opens the SDM External Subtypes page, which lists all existing External Subtypes along with each one's name, status (active or inactive), and Type.

Creating an External Subtype

On the SDM External Subtypes page, select NEW and fill in the following:

  1. Subtype Name.
  2. Confirm the Type is set to Non-Served Document.
  3. AI Classification Description (200 characters or fewer).
  4. Set Active to Yes or No.
  5. Click SAVE.

Idea
In the AI Classification Description, include keywords, document types, or patterns that set this Subtype apart from the others — that's what the AI uses to recognize it.

Once saved, the Subtype appears in the Reclassify dropdown in the Document Viewer. Note that when your company subscribes to SDM, the platform automatically creates a Junk External Subtype as an NSD; you can deactivate it on the SDM External Subtypes page if you don't need it.
