Setup - Matter List Columns

Setup - Matter List Columns

Overview

VIDEO: Matter List Configuration (2 mins)
The Matter List pages display lists of matters using five columns of double-stacked information.  The first three columns are fixed for consistency, but Safari system Owners or Admins can change the content of the last two columns (which is four selections of column data).  This help page provides more details about the configuration options.
NOTE:  Changes to the matter list columns modify the system for all of your users.  Each user cannot individually modify the columns.

Configuring Matter List Columns

How to configure the matter list columns

Only Safari users with a role of Owner or Admin can configure the matter list columns, as follows:
  1. On a main listing page, select Setup.
  2. Under "Matters," select Matter List Configuration.

What is configurable?

Columns.  You can only configure the last two columns of data (which provides four selections of column data).  Below is a visualization of the columns and the default data in your Safari system.

Use the drop-down menu to change the top or bottom selection of data for column 4 and column 5.  Most matter fields are available for selection.  (If there is a matter field that isn't selectable, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager at customer-engagement@safarilaw.com to request it be added.)

Configuration by Type.  Safari allows you to configure the matter lists columns for all users for the default view on the matter list screens, as well as the views based on Type (i.e., Document Request, Garnishment, Litigation, and Other).
EXAMPLE.  Assume that your company wants the second row of data in column 4 to always show the matter name for all matter types.  Then an Owner or Admin should change that field for "All Types" and for each of the four Types in the setup page.
Here is what is not possible:
  1. You cannot configure matter list columns by Subtype.
  2. You cannot configure matter list columns by User.

Column names

The selectable column names appear in the drop-down list.  The column name is based on the field the Safari database defines.  For some selections, the Safari name is too long, so Safari uses a shorter name instead, as shown in parentheses.  For example, "Serving Party Org Name" displays as "Serving Party".
