Overview
You must complete certain actions or responses within a legally designated time period. For example, a state might require a garnishee to complete and mail an Answer to Interrogatories within seven business days of receiving a writ of garnishment. To help you select the proper date more accurately and efficiently, Safari enables you to configure a dropdown list of time periods (e.g., seven business days from the Date Received) to autofill the date field. This help page shows how you can access the date dropdown when filling in a date field, and how Safari system Owners or Admins can create and edit dropdown lists for date fields.
Completing a Date Field using a Date Dropdown List
Once an Owner or Admin creates a date picklist, an icon appears in the date field:
Clicking the icon presents a dropdown selection:
When you click a selection, Safari automatically fills in the date based on the rule in the selection.
Only Owners and Admins can create and edit the dropdown lists for date fields. To access the edit page:
- Go to Setup
- Click Date Dropdowns under "Matters"
For each of the "Due Date" fields, click +Add to add a selection.
Picklist Label. Each dropdown value you create always shows the rule (e.g., "5 days after Date Received"). To include a label before the rule (e.g., the state), type the label in the "Prefix Label" field. In the image above, the state (e.g. Colorado) was entered in the Prefix Label.
Picklist Value Order. The picklist is in alphabetic order. So even if the order shown on the setup page is different, the picklist organizes it alphabetically.
